Lap Bands’ Top 5 Reasons for Losing Weight
Sure, you want to look good, be able to move well and lose an obesity co-morbidity like:
- Type II diabetes
- Sleep apnea
- Hypertension
Currently, scientists worldwide are doing careful research that shows additional reasons why you should lose weight.
5. Got Carpal Tunnel syndrome?
Plastic surgeons studied the health records of 43 massive weight loss (MWL) patients who dropped at least 100 pounds. Twenty four also had carpal tunnel (a very painful wrist condition) with another four showing some symptoms. But after losing 50 pounds, the wrist condition resolved.

4. Weight loss surgery before pregnancy can stop obesity in a family history.

2. Send the Grim Reaper away…..for a while longer, at least.
A director of bariatric surgery at McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Canada, studied 2000 morbidly obese people between the ages of 37 and 70. Half had weight loss surgery.
Results?
After 12 years, the patients who lost weight via Lap Band surgery showed a risk of death that dropped by 72 percent. For breast cancer, the risk was reduced by 82 percent.

And the top reason for losing weight:
- Lessen your chances of getting the Swine Flu!
Researchers at the French Institute for Public Health studied 574 Swine Flu deaths. Commented the team: “Two risk factors are noticeable: pregnancy and obesity.” At least half of all fatal cases showed the two risk factors.

Yet another study on obesity and half a million U.S. people, published in the journal Social Science and Medicine found that living very close to a fast food joint actually lowers your risk of becoming obese.
But people living over one-half mile from any food stores, tend to grow heavier.
